Tokusatsu's Two Legendary Female Antagonists: Soga Machiko vs. Atsuko Takahata

Well it's time to talk about my two favorite female antagonist actresses in Tokusatsu namely the late Soga Machiko vs. the other, Atsuko Takahata. I was thinking about how these two must have really scared kids back then! Now I'd like to share about these two... and now let the battle between Bandora and Maribaron begin!

Soga Machiko was known in Super Sentai as Queen Hedrian (Denziman/Sun Vulcan) where in Denziman, she was their main antagonist (only to be double-crossed by the Wandering Space Demon) and in Sun Vulcan, as a secondary antagonist. In Zyuranger, she had her big time as Bandora who MMPR fans will recognize her footage role as Rita Repulsa. In Metal Hero, she was known as Queen Pandora. Her role in Bandora demanded her to be both funny and scary... I mean Bandora wasn't always scary, she had her moments of silliness too! She does have her trademark evil laugh which for me is pretty scary, she really knew how to portray a sadistic witch in her own way.

On the other rand, we have Atsuko Takahata who has that cold look, frightening aura and everything you could want to appear in a Tokusatsu villain. She was never in Super Sentai. Her first Tokusatsu role was Witch Gilza in Juspion. Her role in Kamen Rider is the State Sorceress Maribaron in Kamen Rider Black RX so she's been a witch twice. In Janperson, she is the sinister CEO of Super Science Network who has noble aims to restore Earth but only as she saw it fit. Atsuko Takahata doesn't have her prolonged evil laugh but rather, she has her trademark braggart laugh of an arrogant rich woman which made her great in acting classy villains.

Although Soga Machiko is gone and Atsuko Takahata is no longer in Tokusatsu, I would admit these two women shared great moments in the shows they appeared in. Both were awesome in their own way!
