Japanese Tokusatsu Celebrities and Their Possible Career Lengths

It's a sad fact many Tokusatsu actors and actresses tend to quit show business as early as they could.  In fact, here's a few to mention...

Just around October 25 of this year, Kyousuke Hamao announces pretty much an early retirement from show business as I read from JE Fusion.  He made a professional leave from the industry because he wants to pursue his studies further to become a lawyer.  Hmmm... and I've stared to think about other known reasons!

Way back in the past, Yuki Yajima had a rather sudden departure to which nobody knew why.  Some speculated that it was her contractual dispute with Japan Action Club and some say she had a quarrel and called it quit with them.  Whatever the case, Yuki Yajima should have done her departure professionally regardless whatever her reasons were.

Some Tokusatsu actors do some occasional guest returns or similar to that.  As far as I've known, Keiya Asakura is now working for a hotel in Japan and Kazunori Inaba is a businessman though they still do contact their fellow Tokusatsu mates and support the industry.  Some of them retire because they are pursuing other careers and just took acting to earn some extra cash to do what they want like open a business or get a degree and get a better job.  As said, I can't blame them for that and I salute them whenever they pursue something else productive other than rely on stardom.

For actresses, marriage happens to be the most frequent and valid reason why they retired.  Well, I can't blame them for wanting to marry as soon as possible as it could be difficult to have children when you're past 30.  Aiko Ito retired from show business after she got married and left many broken hearts.  Others I have known to be retired actresses because they got married are Kanako Maeda, Michiko Makino and Rika Kishida (Please don't buy the story she married her fellow actor Kotaro Tanaka folks like I did!).  I don't blame them for retiring after marrying either to settle for the normal life and I salute them for doing so.  Meanwhile Ayumi Kinoshita despite being newly married, she may still have some projects but she may soon retire as well.

However some do get their celebrity days extended.  Well we have Tori Matsuzaka who's still continuously receiving projects and then we have Rin Takanashi who is also continuously receiving projects and the two even were together in Love for Beginners (pictured above).  However what kept their career extended is beyond Tokusatsu that is stuff like J-Drama taking either lead roles or sidekick roles. Senior actors like Toshihide Wakamatsu who played Gai Yuki in Chojin Sentai Jetman is still in the acting business and is currently in Shogeki Gouraigan.

  1. They are married for sure! Look at her baby. You can say it is Kotara's by looking at it's face. The other rumour is lie. That she married chinese actor. It is the blue one who married him.
