Why I Think Tori Matsuzaka is That Popular

He could have been a stronger Kenshin... but he's too tall for the role.... hehehehehehe!!!!!

Tori Matsuzaka compared to most red rangers, has reached the ten most popular actors in Japan.  He had continued to play mostly major roles after his role as Takeru Shiba/Shinken Red.  Now I just want to give my editorial on why I think Tori Matsuzaka got that popular compared to most red rangers.  And I thought, even the first Takeru never got this popular!  I have also seen other red rangers who later retired... but I am kind of thinking that Tori Matsuzaka may have a very solid fanbase.  Most red rangers would have probably retired after a few minor roles in Tokusatsu.  Now for my editorial on why I think Tori Matsuzaka is that popular.


I don't know if everything could go back to his role as Kenshin ahem Takeru Shiba... pardon the pun!  Now I just thought that Shinkenger's acting goes from passable to above passable.  In terms of acting, I think Tori Matsuzaka actually beats them all.  Rin Takanashi could act, yes but I don't think she's Emmy or Oscar material. But Tori Matsuzaka?  I felt like he could be an Emmy or Oscar material.  I kind of like every last expression he did as Takeru Shiba.  I would admit that he can actually fight out of suit and I was impressed with his out of suit battles like riding a horse while fighting Juzo for the final battle.  I guess his impressive role as Takeru Shiba landed him as Ken Washio in that failed Gatchaman movie!


Tori Matsuzaka has proven himself to be lead-worthy in J-Drama.  Just thought that, if he did continue with minor roles in Tokusatsu, he may have not moved that far.  But by focusing on J-Drama, he gets major parts even when he's not the main character.  For some reason, I always felt like he can make you love or hate a certain character so much!  He can really act out every role given to him so well.


In "Love for Beginners" his role as Kyota Tsubaki may give you the impression of being a braggart.  Aside from wanting to strangle Arisa Yamauchi because Rin Takanashi brings out Arisa so well, the way Tori Matsuzaka carries the role of Kyota Tsubaki (before he changes for the better) makes me think, "Man he should play a bad guy in any Toku guest role."  I thought of it that if I wanted to strangle Arisa Yamauchi during the first half, the same went for Kyota Tsubaki.  When an actor plays an unlikable character well, you can get the emotions.  Tori Matsuzaka not only kicks ass but he also can act.  For me, Tori Matsuzaka and Rin Takanashi were the best performers of that whole movie!


Maybe I could mention about his appeal in commercials and appearing in variety shows, he hoes have his appeal.  Plus, I think he has his great sense of humor and charm.  So he's not just merely a lady's eye candy, he clicks with both men and women alike.  Plus, he's a very bankable performer in commercial videos and variety shows, aside from showing up in J-Drama and movies.  He's also been a very popular poster boy, probably due to his masculine appearance which is now very rare for Sentai red rangers.
