When Kim Tae Hee Became The Korean Diana

 
Paul Anka had a crush on a certain Diana Ayoub when he was 16 and she was 21. It was a well-known love story that led to the hit song "Diana". The tune is so catchy it can give you an earworm. I always wondered what the song was about. The story behind the hit song was that of a teenage crush. Teen crushes tend to go after older women for men most of the time. Decades after the Paul/Diana incident - it turns out that South Korea will have a repeat of the same incident. Yup, the picture above is Kim Tae Hee and a certain college student named Jang Young Ki. 

Koreaboo reveals a rather startling article where a tutoring student of Tae Hee failed his college entrance examination. Just reading through the article makes me think of the similarities between the two incidents are eerily similar. Paul met Diana in church. Guess where Young Ki met Tae Hee? Also in church! Diana became the piano teacher of Paul. Young Ki was a tutoring student of Tae Hee. I'm really laughing at how this situation is eerily similar. It became a crush that went nowhere. Tae Hee was a university student while Young Ki was about to take his college entrance examination and FAILED. He was too busy impressing her that he can't focus on her lessons.

Like Paul, it was a crush that went nowhere. Young Ki had to retake his exam. I confess that I actually wanted to marry Tae Hee back in college when I was 20 and she was 25. I practically had a crush on her. I tried to hide it but I can't stop talking about how pretty she is causing people to suspect I really had a crush on her. Eventually, that obsession slowly died down when I kept in my mind she was a girl I'll never have.
