Moment Of Silence: Gone Too Soon, Barbie Xu

This news is shocking. No, it wasn't suicide but natural causes. I didn't update on her due to her retirement. GMA Network reveals these details on what she did for some time:

Barbie debuted in 1994 as part of the pop duo S.O.S. She had her first leading role in 2001 for Meteor Garden and also appeared in TV shows Mars, Corner with Love, and Summer's Desire. She retired from acting in 2011 after getting married but still occasionally appears in advertisements and variety shows.

But my fondest memory of her? It was Meteor Garden when she appeared as the fierce and gutsy Dong Shan Cai. It was where she and Jerry Yan had a chemistry that even older viewers could enjoy. I had some older relatives who watched Meteor Garden during the 2000s. It was that time when the names Leanne Liu and the Taiwanese actor Chin Han (Sun Siang-chong) were dropped on my face. I watched some older drama and understood the charm!

It was hard to find an actress as good as her. Many times, I wish Barbie filled certain roles. It's no secret I wished she and Jerry were Lu Yiping and He Shuhuan in Romance in the Rain (2001). However, my fandom for F4 started to drift away in favor of other talents. F4 was the start but not the end. 

The way she died reminded me of Teresa Teng (Deng in Pinyin) died in Bangkok. Both of them died while on vacation. Both died from a respiratory attack. However, Teresa's death was from asthma, and it was summer. Both had declining health issues along the way. Barbie was 48 while Teresa was 43. 

I also remember Mary Hsu (Xú Huáfèng) who died in 2011 of stomach cancer. I also remember Beatrice Xu (Xǔ Wěilún) who died in a car crash. This reminds me of that alleged curse that hits Chinese celebrities.
