Celeste Legaspi's Song "Mamang Sorbetero" Gets Covered By Paula Tsui's "Loose Quartet"
Jacky Cheung did a cover of Ariel Rivera's hit song "Sana Kahit Minsan" (Even If Only Sometimes) for the movie Future Cops. The Hong Kong singer Paula Tsui probably heard of the great Celeste Legaspi. Presently, Celeste is 75 years old and Paula is 76 years old. Both have the same age. Did Paula speak English or did she get a translator before getting the rights to do a cover version?

And not surprisingly, Chinese FILIPINO songwriter Jose Mari Chan created a cover version in English. I decided to emphasize Filipino as to avoid confusing newbies into thinking Jose here is from China or Hong Kong when he's from the Philippines -- hence a FILIPINO.
All three songs share one wonderful melody and different lyrics. Two Filipinos and one Chinese (from Hong Kong) would give wonderful memories. I couldn't imagine the look in Celeste's face when Jose and Paula paid the royalties.
Vocal-wise, I'm going to give Celeste the biggest credit. Paula and Jose both did well. Celeste still wins this one!
