How The Late Barbie Xu Reminded Me Of Another Late Actress, Teresa Teng

 

Barbie Xu's untimely death is still too hard to accept. I thought about my sentimental moment with Meteor Garden. Some people compared her to the actress Leannie Liu in terms of her acting skills. I wanted her to be Lu Yiping and Jerry Yan to be He Shuhuan in Romance in the Rain (2001). She made the best Makino Tsukushi. Right now, it's Teresa Teng's death anniversary. Teresa left the world on May 8, 1995. Who'd have thought that Barbie would join Teresa in the afterlife -- almost 30 years later?!

Not surprisingly, Barbie wasn't given a tree burial but the more appropriate burial at Chin Pao San Cemetery. Barbie had a funeral on March 15, 2025. It happens to be the resting place of Teresa, along with the likes of Coco Lee (48) and Godfrey Gao (35). 

Both Teresa and Barbie died of respiratory problems. Teresa died in Chiangmai, Thailand, of asthma. Barbie died of pneumonia in Japan. Both died during their vacation. It was too soon. Barbie was cremated due to protocol. Teresa was buried. 

It's appropriate for Barbie's ashes to be interred at Chin Pao San. To have her ashes put in the same venue as Teresa is a great honor. If only Barbie gets a memorial concert like Teresa too.
