Jolin Tsai And The Late Anita Mui Were Spotted On Separate Singing Contests?

Jolin Tsai and the late Anita Mui are both considered Asian Madonnas. Anita was a superstar in the 1980s to the 1990s. Jolin Tsai started in 1998 and up to the present. Anita died in 2003 at only 40 years old. Jolin is still alive today at 44 years old, but still single.

Here's Jolin at 18 years old in a singing competition organized by MTV Mandarin and Sony. Jolin managed to sing "The Greatest Love of All" by the late Whitney Houston. Jolin managed to sing the song in English with all her heart. This was in 1998.

Here's Anita Mui in the New Talent Singing Awards. Anita was 18 years old when she entered contest. Anita was probably an unexpected talent. Anita sang Paula Tsui's Cantopop song "Season of the Wind". This was in 1982.

The voice quality is different. Anita had a more distinct voice than Jolin. Anita had a contralto voice. Here's a clip of Anita singing with the late Teresa Teng, the late Leslie Cheung, and some others I'm not familiar with. I only discovered Anita when she was ill and only listened to her music AFTER SHE DIED. This voice clip can distinguish between Jolin and Anita -- putting that they're similar yet different.

Some thoughts on the Mui sisters and the Tsai sisters

Both stars had experience in singing before entering the contests. They both have an older sister with a similar sounding name to them. Jolin's sister is Jo Tsai. Anita's older sister is the late Ann Mui. They both got called Asian Madonnas. They both sing and dance like Madonna. They're similar yet different in their performance arts.

Jo is happily married to her CEO husband Lin Chuankai. It didn't end up in the same fate as the late Barbie Xu's failed first marriage. Just reading this makes me think the Tsai sisters have been more fortunate than the Mui sisters:

After work, Jolin will share her life through social platforms. Several of them are photos of the whole family going out together, and they can see that the family relationship is harmonious. Recently, the identity of Jolin Tsai's brother-in-law has been revealed. It turned out to be Lin Chuankai, the eldest son of Lin Zhenyuan, the fourth generation of Datong Group and the second house. During the process, it was hard to hide his shyness.

Meanwhile, the Mui sisters weren't so fortunate. Ann had to deal with estrangement and cervical cancer. Ann died at 40 years old in 2000. Anita died of the same cancer in 2003, also at 40 years old. Reading Jolin being able to see her nephew and niece -- I wish Anita was able to contact her nephews before passing away. Reading Ann's estrangement made me realize Jo was more fortunate. It got more painful when I realized the Mui sisters had to sing FOR A LIVING. Anita didn't have the privilege Jolin had to form a high school girl band. Anita had to drop out of school to support her impoverished family. It just feels so sad that Anita and Ann left the world too soon.

Reading the two parallels -- I'm taught to be grateful for whatever I have. Anita was still grateful for what she had -- even after one tragedy after the other. Anita decided to give her best for her friends and the audience. Anita simply asked to be allowed to die peacefully. Instead of moping, Anita gave much of her wealth to charity and helped her friends up to the end.
