Vicki Zhao Making Sudden Public Appearance At 50 In Singapore
The news that Vicki Zhao was CANCELLED by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). I gave a thought of my shock when Vicki finally showed up at 50. There are times I felt she had aged badly, and for good reasons — handling marital woes such as her former husband Huang Youlong's bad debts and the eventual divorce can take a toll on anyone. Thankfully, Vicki has her daughter April (who's obviously a mix between her parents)
I could remember thinking about how Vicki wasn't exactly MY type of Yiping in Romance in the Rain. However, I enjoyed her in action roles like Shaolin Soccer and So Close. I thought of Vicki more as an action girl than someone who was ready to cry a bucket of tears. For buckets of tears? I thought actresses like Leanne Liu and the late Barbie Xu were more equipped for that.Vicki? Her charm was that she showed you can't mess with her because she COULD FIGHT.
Meanwhile, I thought about Vicki's thoughts on Singapore as a small country:
Vicki was also asked about her visit to Singapore, a place she said she is not unfamiliar with as she lived here for a few years in the past and still visits frequently.
She was married to businessman Huang Youlong, a Singapore PR, and she announced in 2024 that they had divorced several years earlier. Their daughter was born here in 2010.
She explained: "I say this with all honesty — I really like Singapore because of the people. They are very polite and show it from their heart. Nanxing told me that Singaporeans are very accommodating because of the multicultural society."
She shared that she enjoys eating at Ng Ah Sio Bak Kut Teh and Boon Tong Kee chicken rice.
"I really love those old stalls and shops that have been around for decades, their food are just really good... I visited the last time I was in Singapore and brought a few friends from China along. The dishes are still very delicious," she said.
It's good to see Vicki again and tell us she's recovered!
