Tetsuo Kurata Is Now Officially A Half-Century King
Well today is September 11, 2018 and that means Tetsuo Kurata is now a Half-Century King! In short, he's already 50 years old and I gave a thought on the matter of how time flies SO FAST. So how does it fly so fast? I remembered watching the badly done Tagalog dub of Kamen Rider Black in the 90s (and I don't want to watch it EVER again) and later watched some fan subs that had the original voices. So you may know him as Robert Akizuki (hence the source of my pen name back when I still didn't shun the dubs and still longed for them) though I now prefer to use Black's real name which is Kotaro Minami!
Last year was really proof time went in so fast. Kamen Rider Black, Maskman and Metalder all showed up in 1987. Last year was 2017 and it was their 30th anniversary together with Spaceballs (which may have been Kyuranger's inspiration for Lucky but it's probably not the case) and the 40th anniversary of Star Wars. I still can't forget how I read that Black RX was supposed to be an entirely different character but the once in a lifetime popularity of Kurata caused Black RX to be a sequel of Black. However, said actor said he disliked Black RX due to the excessive humor though I can't deny the show was an important testing ground for new concepts such as allies getting more involved in battle or multiple forms -- concepts that would be more used frequently (and usually better implemented) with most new school Kamen Rider!
After Black RX -- he still had various acting roles. So far, I've heard he's a family man with two children now. Also, he's the owner of Billy the Kid in Japan. In spite of his current status as a big time entrepreneur -- he's still devoted to Toku in some way. He did play as different versions of Kotaro in Decade and some other Kamen Rider movies such as Kamen Rider Grand Prix. He even guest starred in Indonesian Tokusatsu series Bima Satria Garuda. Hmmm how long was it? Kamen Rider Decade happened last 2009 and now it's 2018. Hmmmm... talk about time flying so fast!
