So Tori Matsuzaka Marries Erika Toda Five Years Later After Their First Project Together

Is it me or do I find it weird that the marriage just got announced today? So much for me actually wishing Tori Matsuzaka will marry a Filipino woman, huh? Erika Toda starred alongside Tori Matsuzaka in the movie April Fool's where a one night stand turned into a comedy. Just then, it turns out that Tori and Erika announced their marriage just today. Yes, you got that right - the two just got married amid the COVID-19 pandemic. So, it's a Toku guy marrying a non-Toku girl.

I remembered knowing Erika through Death Note. I knew Tori first through Samurai Sentai Shinkenger. So, is it that weird that it happened? Granted, Misa in Death Note is in the supernatural, and Tori's Takeru fights off the supernatural. Though, the film they had together was anything but fantasy-based. 

This brings up January 2018 when Rin Takanashi got married to Makino Tomoaki (and Crystal Liu broke up with Song Seung Hoon). So from the main cast POV - Tori is the second Shinkenger to tie the knot. Last 2009, I actually shipped Tori with Rin though it didn't materialize at all. Then news of Kazunori Inaba (Red Mask of Hikari Sentai Maskman) marrying a Filipino woman made me wish Tori will marry a Filipino woman. I ended up shipping Tori with Rhian Ramos Howell (it was purely wishful thinking) and later Beverly Caimen when she sang "Be the One" - the theme song for Kamen Rider Build. Though it's possible Erika and he were dating when Kamen Rider Build aired so that sank my ship of Tori x Beverly too! Rin met her husband via a friend. I think the same went for Nao Nagasawa meeting her husband. Though, I have no idea how Ayumi Kinoshita met hers. Tori met his recently married wife via a movie.

I'd be lying to say that this doesn't break hearts from some fanboys and fangirls alike. Anyway, congrats to this quarantine couple aside from Punpee and Sayaka Akimoto.
